[Interview] Women/Nonbinary Individuals in Horror [MyHorseCeders]

We sat down virtually with MyHorseCeders, or Amy, Twitch streamer, Fanhouse creator, and horse lover, to discuss what’s the most rewarding thing she’s experienced while streaming, her favorite fall drink, and what sparked her love of horses!

MT: As a streamer, what do you look forward to when preparing to press the “Go Live” button?

Amy: I look forward to chatting with everyone that joins the stream. It’s really nice to see the ones that continue to come back and the new chatters as well!  It’s always really nice to hear how everyone’s day has gone. I would definitely say, talking with chat is what I look forward to most when preparing to press the “Go Live” button. There’s always some fun and exciting conversation happening whether it’s about the game or not, there’s always something fun happening in chat.

MT: I agree, getting to talk to everyone and learn what’s new in their lives is always exciting. What’s the most rewarding thing you’ve experienced during streaming so far?

Amy: The most rewarding thing I’ve experienced during streaming so far was hearing from someone that they were really enjoying the stream and that my content was really cozy for them. That really made me feel good about what I’m doing as a streamer. My aim is to be a safe, comfy, enjoyable place for my community to relax and hang out.

Fanhouse is a great platform for content creation.

MT: That sounds incredibly rewarding. You love horses. What sparked your love of horses and what held your love of them?

Amy: I do love horses. Growing up, my Aunt and Uncle had a farm and always had horses. I was able to lead around the pony they had and I always enjoyed the calming effect he had on me even at a young age. The special connection I had with my Aunt and still have with my Uncle through our love of horses is very dear to me and I will always hold that close to my heart.  When I got older I had my own horse for a few years in college. He became more than just a pet to me he was a best friend in a way and we had a very special bond. I will never forget the time we had together.

Amy.

MT: Wow. I’ve never been around horses, so I can’t imagine having one, but it’s so beautiful that you were able to have one and also foster your connection with your Aunt and Uncle through horses. You’re on Fanhouse as are several other streamers. Do you like the platform for content creation? What does it offer you as opposed to other creator-based sites like Patreon and Ko-Fi? Have you found your community eager to support you on Fanhouse as opposed to another site like Ko-Fi?

Amy: Fanhouse is a great platform for content creation. To me Fanhouse was a little easier to use and some of my community were willing to support me on that platform. I’m still fairly new to these platforms but Fanhouse almost seemed more cozy which fit my vibe more than the others. Though I’ve never tried Patreon as a content creator before it seems a little more complicated than Ko-Fi or Fanhouse to me. I am open to trying others but for now Fanhouse works for me. Fanhouse has also made it a little easier to advertise giving their creators templates to use for social media.

MT: Awesome! I had a Fanhouse for a bit but ultimately decided I couldn’t keep up with everything to make content for it! Favorite fall drink? Why?

Amy: Pumpkin Spice Latte because I love coffee and I’ve just recently started liking/enjoying cinnamon, nutmeg and clove.

MT: I guess that’s a classic this time of year. I’m not a fan of it personally, but moving on, what’s your favorite horror movie?

Amy: Favorite horror movie is Constantine

Keanu Reeves in Constantine (2005) | Warner Bros Pictures

MT: I LOVE me some Constantine! Thank you Amy for sharing a bit of your story with us! I hope I can catch a stream soon!
